What is an Extraction?
Extractions are done as a way to remove a problematic tooth. Unfortunately, a lot of people have teeth that are beyond the point of being saved. This can be a major issue for when you’re trying to improve your oral health. If this is the case, we recommend coming into our office here at Rivers Family & Cosmetic Dentistry to have an extraction done at your own convenience.
Why would an Extraction be needed?

Who is a candidate for an Extraction?
What happens during the Extraction process?
The doctor will carefully examine your teeth and then provide sedation of some kind. This will help to relax you and prevent pain during the procedure, making that it’s easier for you. The next step is for us to remove the tooth from the gums. This is done to prevent a tooth that cannot be saved from causing further problems for your oral health. The next goal is to apply stitches, which will help to close the gums so that they heal quickly and easily. You can expect some slight swelling and pain for the first few days following the actual appointment, and we’re here to answer any post-operative questions.
